Memorial Day
May 27, 2013

We remember ALL Veterans,
their service and their sacrifice.

The Sisters began the day by visiting two grave sites of Native American soldiers.

CPL Billy Farris
US Army

Cpl Farris was a student at
 St. Peter Indian Mission School.

He served in Iraq.
Killed in action December 3,2006.

Thank you Cpl Farris.
May you rest in peace.

Private Victor Lucero
US Army

Private Lucero is the brother of Sister Juana Lucero of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Thank you Private Lucero.
May you rest in peace.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Ira Hayes American Legion Post 84
came to the mission for a prayer service
in honor of Cpl Ira Hayes.
Cpl Hayes was one of the six men
to raise the flag on Iwo Jima.
Cpl Hayes lived just down the road from
St. Peter Indian Mission.
The soldiers began with a prayer for all veterans
followed by a twenty-one gun salute.
The service was concluded with the playing of Taps.
Each Sister received a gun shell casing from the
twenty-one gun salute.
These were placed at the grave of
Private Lucero.
The day came to a close with a
Memorial Day Dinner!
 Thank you to all you have served and are
currently serving in the Armed Forces!
Happy Memorial Day!
God Bless YOU!
Welcome Sister Constansia!!
Sister is studying in Manitowoc, WI,
 at our Motherhouse.
She stayed with us two weeks
gaining classroom experience.
Sister's home is in Tanzania.
Sister received a birthday crown
in gratitude for her time with the children.
Honestly, Sister Constansia worked
in the classroom, yet, the only pictures captured
were those of her other experiences here on mission!
