Wild Kingdom of Bapchule

The storm that started it all!

Rains poured through the night into the morning!

Creepy crawlies of the desert surfaced to visit...eight legs and all!

Even those without legs greeted us
in the morning as did this adult rattler.
This little guy came just in time for Sister Elena's Feast day!

And if that wasn't enough...
Sister Elena had company, a baby rattler, in her classroom.

Headline News!!

Thunderstorms Roll Through Bapchule

About 10:00pm, August 14th, we were hit by a huge storm, taking out our transformer and nearly closing the second day of school.

As the sun was rising, Sisters met outside to find that the school still had power.  The convent, the office and the cafeteria were the only buildings without power.  Tribal services did come to the rescue restoring power, having to replace the transformer.

During the storm, Sister Carol and Sister Martha had walked through one foot deep of standing rain water.  Luckily, the water had receded by sunrise.

We had to walk carefully through school grounds dodging baby frogs.

Spot the Frog!  Look Closely!!

Alleluia! It's Over!

Happy Fourth of July!

From Bapchule, AZ to Manitowoc, WI,
Sisters celebrate July 4th community style!

The day's events began with a solemn flag raising ceremony.
Our two novices and two Sisters, who are United States Veterans,
carried the flag in the procession.

Sister Elizabeth provided partriotic music throughout the ceremony.

Following the ceremony and a Community Mass,
Sisters enjoyed a rousing game of cards!

The afternoon also included a 4th of July Talent Show
in which several of our Sisters shared their gifts!

Sister Angela Paul performed a ballet selection.

Sister Monica displayed her wonderful talent on the guitar!

Even our international Sisters from Vietnam joined the festivities
performing a beautiful cultural dance.

The day's events concluded with an evening trip to the beach along
Lake Michigan to watch the fireworks over the water!

Of course, we could not pass up a stop to the local Dariy Queen!!
